The Wines

Folktale produces an impressive range of wines with creative, literary-inspired names like The Ruler Pinot Noir, Tyger Tyger Chardonnay, The Hound, and Wild Swans. Their winemaking showcases what Carmel Valley and Monterey County can achieve—from elegant Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to structured Cabernet Sauvignon and unique Rhône varietals.

We were particularly impressed by their wine club exclusive releases, which aren’t just marketing—they’re genuinely limited-production wines that members get first access to through customizable quarterly allocations.

Our Experience

We chose the Signature Flight ($45) for our family visit, which included five wines from Folktale Sparkling Rosé through Le Mistral Joseph’s Blend. The 2 oz pours were generous, the outdoor patio setting was beautiful, and our wine educator made everyone feel welcome and engaged.
